Year 4 visit to Wroxeter Roman City

Year 4 become Roman citizens for the day at a Historic England Roman city!

To enhance their learning about the Romans in Britain, year 4 travelled to Wroxeter in Shrewsbury today to visit the ruins of an ancient Roman city; one of the biggest in the country.  They learnt all about the archaeology of the site, including the use of all the buildings (such as the Roman Basillica or hall, the sauna or Caldarium, the cold room or frigidarium, the warm baths or tepidarium, the latrine or toilets, and the shopping markets).  They were also able to explore a town house replica and herb garden and even got to dress up in Roman-style clothes and make their own coins.  They had a fabulous day!
